What People Are Saying!

"I read your book and it is very comprehensive about mental issues of young people nowadays. You relay your experience on each topic with practical advice and illustrate with an example of a case. You couple it with your own autobiography, that gives a personal touch and it is very creative. It will be a very good reference to practitioners, families and caregivers."
~ Owner, Atrium House Assisted Living

"Beth's ability to succeed with clients that many others have failed with can be attributed to her creative problem solving and thinking outside the box."
~ Debbie

"You never cease to amaze me with your knowledge, ability to speak about it, present it and ability to guide and help others. It’s wonderful to have your new contractor Evan as part of your team. Congrats to Evan, you and the family."
~Joyce Katz

"I’m honored that you included me in this journey. I could feel how important it was for you, the award for all of your incredible work. Putting your love and soul on paper is so challenging, but as with all things, you did it with grace and heart. Love you!!!"

"I read your book. Loved it. Identified w/it quite a bit"

"You saw a vision and made it a reality. You may never know how many people you have helped lift up. Just be proud and grateful that you and your creations have made this world a better place for good and kindness" ❤️

"Beth, I got it yesterday and I had a chance to look at it last night! In short, it’s a wonderful book! I’m a big fan of realistic and pragmatic! The book is both! I especially liked the case studies! As a data analyst, I always valued multi-method analysis, the mixture of hard data with qualitative data from sources like focus groups or case studies! It shows the human side of the usually impersonal quantitative data! Also, you did a great job showing straightforward solutions! The substance abuse and mental health fields often described the problem very well but fell down on the job describing solutions!
Of course, the cousin Beth warmth and caring comes through with every paragraph! I would have expected no less!
Thanks for the hand written note at the beginning of the book!"
~Much love, Bruce!!

"Amazon review - five stars
I am grateful for the guidance in my journey as I found my lens of hope

I am grateful that Beth Albaneze, owner of House Calls Total Wellness, has written this book describing her life and the positive impact House Calls has had on the hundreds of clients her company has served. I am one of the clients who benefited greatly from House Calls. After my suicide attempt in 2015, I spent several years residing in assisted living as I recovered. A House Calls recreational therapist encouraged me to return to activities I had enjoyed when I was younger such as sharing children’s books. Because of the encouragement of the House Calls therapist, I went through the Literacy Council training to teach adults how to read and met for more than a year met with an Egyptian woman who wanted to learn to read English to read children’s books with her grandchildren. Helping someone else bolstered my confidence, and I have recovered fully to live independently. I wrote about my recovery in an USA Today article published in April of 2020. Thank you Beth and thank you, House Calls."

“For decades, Beth Albaneze has provided help to individuals and families experiencing mental illness. This experience has culminated in her writing an easy to read, down-to-earth, and enormously helpful guide for those needing advice on how to assist a loved one suffering the stresses and challenges of this difficult situation. Only someone with such vast experience can provide a family with such a complete overview of what to expect and how to deal with it. As a psychiatrist with little time to offer advice beyond what I can give in the clinic, I have often wished for someone who could provide families with solid, practical, born-of-experience guidance for the day-to-day management of acute and chronic mental illness, and advice on ways to deal with the many unexpected problems that can arise. This wise and well-written book fulfills that role. It is an invaluable book for families of the mentally ill and an excellent addition to the library of any mental health professional.”
~Scott Mendelson, MD, PhD

"I looked at your book on Amazon this morning and it looks terrific. More importantly, it is extremely well written. It is well organized, coherent, and full of very helpful information. I like your analogy of needing to put your own oxygen mask on first when the airplane gets into trouble. You are an excellent writer with obvious expertise in your subject. This book will help a lot of people. Well done, Beth!"

"I am feeling I am reading your book in sections…… I keep it near me. Soooo interesting. I think that I have been weakened trying to be there for my boys. Both in crisis mode.  I carry your book with me as you are an unbelievable source of help, active listening, giving me strength and much more. "

"I’m reading your book - it’s so warm and helpful (certainly reflects you). I sent the information to a friend who has a 46 year old son whom she says is bipolar, ADD and OCD. I don’t think he’s getting any professional help and she’s financially supporting him. She gets angry at me when I try to talk to her about him - I’ve known him since he was 3. I hope she reads your book - I think it will guide her."

"Very proud of my mother, Beth Albaneze, who just wrote this book on her career and a legacy of helping others. Definitely check it out and show her some deserved love and support!"
~Evan Taff

"My mom wrote a book! She finally put all of (well, some of) her incredible skill and experience down on paper to help even more people. I'm so proud of her. Now go buy it!"
~Jaimie Taff

*This book is meant to provide guidance and ideas on how to help and what to expect when you are dealing with a loved one’s acute or chronic challenge or life transition, whether it’s as relatively common as retirement or teen moodiness, or as major as unemployment, medical urgency, divorce, or a clinical diagnosis of mental illness.

"The interview captures the essence of everything you and your team do to help people"

The goal of this book is to make people aware of the many health services available and to suggest ways to access them. For many, the scope of available health services can be overwhelming (What kind of care is needed? Is there a specialist required?); the process can be frustrating (Do I need a referral? Which provider is on our insurance plan?); and the unknown terrifying (How are we going to pay for it? Do we have prescription drug coverage?).

Trying to make all the parts work together can understandably provoke a lot of anxiety.

This book will help take the mystery out of some common mental health care situations and offer readers new ways to look at their challenging circumstances. This book will also help guide families and caregivers through a process that the author has experienced personally and navigated professionally for decades.

And regardless of your situation’s severity, the basic concepts are the same: take care of yourself, enlist professional help, communicate and advocate, and find creative ways to return meaning to your loved one’s life.

"Helpless to Hopeful is a welcome and important contribution to the mental health field. This book provides a practical step by step guide to families who are facing the mental health breakdown of a family member and who are at a loss of how to help their loved ones and themselves through this crisis. During these current times in our country when mental health care support is extremely limited, Hopeless to Helpful is a invaluable resource for what to expect during a mental health crisis and to help navigate the complicated systems involved in government, healthcare, and insurance resources that may be available. This innovative book definitely fills a critical gap in how to understand and treat mental illness."
